Barry Larkin
Year: 1995
Brand: Fleer
Card number: 439
In 1995, Fleer tried something a bit different with its base set by creating a unique design for each of the six divisions in MLB. Each team within the same division had the same card design - and the cards were numbered in order by team and division. In theory, the concept could be solid - unfortunately, the vast majority of the division designs were awful!
As you can see, the NL Central design is fine on the back side, but the front is an abomination. I have no idea why Fleer thought it would be a good idea to put things like height and weight on the front of the card...and even worse, why they would superimpose biographical information over the photo. While I've certainly said before that no every Larkin card can be a winner...this one might take the cake for being the least "winner" of them all!
