A TCDB Surprise Card from mpdillard25!

Group Break: The First Box "Hit"!

As usual, I will mix up the boxes as we go through the group break.  It keeps things fresh for me (as I rip and post) and for you (as you read about the various contents).  That said, I'm going to open another pair of packs from the Topps Finest box right now before moving on to a different box.

2000 Topps Finest:
Pack 4:
181.  Greg Vaughn - Rays
206.  Ray Durham - White Sox
215.  Vinny Castilla - Rays
231.  Matt LeCroy - Twins
241.  Adam Dunn - Reds
FM2.  Finest Moments:  Ivan Rodriguez - Rangers

Other than the second Finest Moments out of the box (seeded 1:9 packs), this pack was full of duplicates.  I can't get over how poor the collation has been so far.  The pack win is easy to assign though - only the Rangers got a new card (and it was an insert to boot).

Pack 5:
155.  Frank Thomas - White Sox
224.  Dante Bichette - Reds
234.  Lance Berkman - Astros

245.  Jason Grilli - Marlins
238.  Eric Valent - Phillies
277.  Gems:  Pedro Martinez - Red Sox

The Gems are a subset of the base set that are shortprinted (seeded 1:24 packs).  In other words, the Pedro is a box hit for the Red Sox!  Congrats to Sports Card Blog for that one (and the pack win).

The good news is that we had a couple more teams gather their first card of the break.  I know as a group break participant, I always want my team to get a card - any card - in the beginning.  It can be agonizing watching pack after pack go by without seeing a card from my team.  I'm hopeful none of you will end up feeling that way!

The next group break post will feature cards from a different box.  Which box?  I don't yet - I haven't decided!
