I have two boxes that I got for Christmas that I'm itching to bust...however, I told myself that I wouldn't open either box until after I finished the Pack War which I started a few days ago. With that said, let's move right into the next pack.
Pack Wars II - Pack 16:
2010 Topps - Series 2 (12 card pack)
This is the second 2010 Topps pack (both from Series 2). The first pack from the set scored a respectable 14 points - will this one do any better?
494. Andrew Miller - Marlins
The 2010 Topps set seems like a much nicer set to me than the 2011 set. I think it's because the cards feel more vibrant (both in terms of color and design). +1
589. Edinson Volquez - Reds
Alright, so Volquez never was my favorite pitcher (too much of a head case) but it's a Red...and Reds get rewarded in my Pack Wars. +3
563. Bronson Arroyo - Reds
Who saw that coming? Back-to-back Reds...and one of my favorite current Reds pitchers no less! +5 points for Bronson and his high leg kick.
590. Ryan Howard - Phillies
Howard seems like a nice enough guy from what I hear...of course, I usually tune Philly fans out (you have to living in Pennsylvania). +1
554. Ramon Hernandez - Reds
A three Reds pack?! 2010 Topps knows what it takes to win this thing. +4
470. New York Yankees
Then again, maybe not. Boo Yankees. -2
Cards Your Mom Threw Out: 65. Duke Snider - Dodgers
Anyone need this one? +2 because Dodgers are the easiest team to get rid of cards from.
History of the World Series: 23. Cole Hamels
For the longest time, I needed this card. I no longer need any cards from the 2010 set though (so this card, plus all the others on my have for trade list are available). +1
Topps Town: Max Scherzer - Tigers
Topps Town sucks. -2
624. Carlos Beltran - Mets
I didn't mind Beltran until he became a Cardinal. He's no Cardinal here though, so he gets rewarded. +1
562. Carlos Quentin - White Sox
The AL Central is probably the only division in baseball where I don't hate at least one of the teams. That's all I've got for Quentin. +0
445. Miguel Olivo - Rockies
Photos of catchers in full gear? Cool. Photos of catchers without the helmet on? Not cool. It looks like Olivo is getting ready for a paintball fight. -2
Pack total: 12 points
Certainly not a terrible score - though it was less than the other 2010 Topps pack. At this point, there are only four packs left who have a chance to take down the 2011 Allen & Ginter pack.
