David (from Tribe Cards) recently (ok, it was February) sent me my portion of his group break that he held over the entire 2012 MLB season. This is the second part of the trade package (I posted Part I yesterday).
One of the best parts about David's break was the fact that he opened up a bunch of packs from a variety of sets. Sure, as yesterday's post pointed out, I ended up with a bunch of duplicates - but I also ended up with a few brand new sets for my collection. Among those:
1998 Topps Stadium Club:
When I first saw this card, I figured it was a Upper Deck Sweet Spot card - mostly because of the embossed "stitching" at the top of the card. However, I was wrong (obviously) as this is a Stadium Club card. I enjoy a good no border set once in awhile, and this set certainly seems to fit the bill as a set that I would enjoy collecting!
2004 Topps Opening Day:
I admit it, I totally ignore the Opening Day brand. Not just now, but basically forever. I believe there was only one year in which I bought more than a pack of the product...but for the past decade or so I've bought exactly zero packs of Opening Day. As such, landing this '04 example of the Opening Day brand is a good thing for my Reds collection!
2007 Tristar Pro Debut:
Tristar is a brand that I've never even contemplated collecting. Based on this Upper Deck "wanna be" card, I don't think I'll be adding Tristar to my want list any time soon. That said, I still appreciate any new Reds card for my collection - even Tristar.
Finally...
2012 Topps Gypsy Queen:
I think I might have one or two cards from this set, but after never being able to complete the '11 Gypsy Queen set (which I bought a lot of), I boycotted the '12 edition out of spite. In fact, there are still base cards that I need from the 2011 Gypsy Queen set - not to mention a plethora of short prints. Grr.
Thanks (again) for the cards David! I still plan on doing at least one more post showing off some of my other favorites, including a bunch of Barry Larkin cards for my collection!
