The 2013 Topps set is all the rage right now (do the kids still say "all the rage"?)...and I'm pleased to say that I've acquired four more from my want list thanks to Roger over at Sportscard Mask-a-Rade. This is impressive because I've yet to buy a single pack of 2013 Topps and yet I now only need one more Reds base card (plus a slew of Reds inserts).
The most recent four?
70. Todd Frazier
Frazier has been an absolute beast for most of the 2013 season. I'm expecting big things from him - though I doubt he'll be able to top this wonderful story for the remainder of the season (last year he literally saved a guy's life by performing the Heimlich Maneuver). The dude is a beast of a man and I'm glad he's a Cincinnati Reds.
106. Drew Stubbs
Ok, so after all the praise I had for Frazier we get Stubbs...what can I say positive about Drew (besides the fact that he's now an Indian)? Oh, I know. Stubbs was integral in the Reds acquiring Shin-Soo Choo who has been an on base machine at the top of the Reds order (something Stubbs never was).
195. Chris Heisey
I want to like Heisey. Unfortunately, he appears to be nothing more than a role player. He's been thrust into a starting role thanks to Ryan Ludwick's injury and Heisey has done nothing but struggle on a daily basis. I haven't totally given up on Chris, but it's not looking promising now that he has over 340 MLB games under his belt.
251. Sean Marshall
Marshall is integral to the Reds' bullpen success - and while it's sort of rare for a set-up man to get a Topps baseball card, I think Marshall is deserving (he did end up with 9 saves last year - partially because he was the Reds closer in the beginning of the season before Aroldis stepped in and dominated).
Thanks for the trade Roger! And if someone has the last remaining Reds base card that I need (Logan Ondrusek) or anything else from my want list - I'd love to work out a trade!
