TCDB Monday: It's a Monster, Folks!

Why Listia Sucks...

A bit ago, I posted why Listia can be fun.  Here's why it sucks:

Yep.  That's the guy I bought the Alexi Ogando A&G mini card from.  The actual auction write up was the following:

Notice in my reply, I wasn't rude (or at least I didn't think I was).  I wasn't yelling at him.  Heck, I wasn't even asking for credits back...I even left him positive feedback.  I did think he did a poor job labeling the auction (make up your own mind - here's a screen capture for posterity since rick364 has since blocked me):

What would you assume if you were bidding?  Is it partially my fault - sure I suppose (and I said as much in my original email).  However, it was still misleading - and there's no scan of the back.  Also, I'm afraid he's a liar in that he knows there are multiple backs - why else would you be selling Allen & Ginter cards?

Needless to say, I'm angry about the whole thing.  As far as I can see, I don't have any recourse - and the guy blocked me so I won't be bidding on his stuff anymore.  All I can say is, I wouldn't advise any of you to bid on his stuff either - or at the very least, ask a lot of questions beforehand.

  1. Yeah Rick is a little testy. I thought your comments were fine. That dude needs to get a grip.

  2. I like Listia but there are some shady people on that site. Most of the users are nice and helpful but some can be total jerks.

  3. That's the key...ask a lot of questions up front.

  4. Wow, it's so unlike a Yankee fan to display attitude. Shocking.

  5. There was no need for him to respond as he did. You find jerks everywhere.

And why cut off a potential buyer who politely pointed out a misunderstanding and admitted his part in it? Jeez.

  6. I can't stand people like that. I would have done the same thing you did, but any dbag who responds to me in that immature tone deserves to get his ass handed to him.

He probably also is the clown who tries to sell 1990 Fleer Baseball sets on Craigslist for $75.

  7. I won an auction on Listia that had "free shipping". Then had to drive down to the post office to pay the 95 cents postage due. Gee, thanx.

  8. You handled it by doing the right thing, and the other guy reacted like a jerk.

    Don't lose a minute's sleep over it.

  9. Saw the same guy rant on an auction recently, "educating" the seller whom he felt was asking too much on a tiered auction that he wanted.

His approach to you is the attitude I've seen far too much on Listia - it's free, so just be glad you got something.

  11. Anyone who says Listia is free is stupid in my book. Lets see how much did you list to get your points shipping cost wow it is not free after all.
