Barry Larkin
Year: 1991
Brand: Fleer Ultra
Card number: 96
Fleer Ultra ended its run as a glossy, shiny monstrosity but it wasn't always that way. The first year of Fleer Ultra was actually quite subdued (though still "fancy" by the standards of most of the 1991 sets). The front of the card is particularly plain - way too much drab grey. However, the back is quite nice. It's colorful, there's plenty of images, and there's the Reds running man logo (which I always appreciate). The worst part is the fact that there is only one year's worth of statistics (but I can let that go given the quality images). All things told, the '91 Fleer Ultra set would probably be a fun set to put together and admire in a binder. However, I'm not planning to do that so that only 1991 Fleer Ultra card that I'll be admiring in a binder is this one.
