Welcome back to yet another group break post. This time, we dip into the box that still has the most remaining packs (1999 Topps Gallery) and open two more packs.
Pack 15:
15. Travis Lee - Diamondbacks
18. David Justice - Indians
59. Vinny Castilla - Rockies
82. Cliff Floyd - Marlins
93. Robin Ventura - Mets
145. Choo Freeman - Rockies
Not a lot to write home about in this pack (unless you are a Rockies' fan in which case this was an awesome pack for you).
Pack 16:
14. Mike Piazza - Mets
This is my favorite card of this pack - I like the framing (and it looks like Piazza is all alone out on the field).
34. Roberto Alomar - Indians
43. Kerry Wood - Cubs
65. Trevor Hoffman - Padres
81. Todd Hundley - Dodgers
144. Mark Mulder - Athletics
I have to be honest, those weren't the most inspiring packs now were they? Let's rip two more with the hopes of finding something more fun.
Pack 17:
12. Scott Rolen - Phillies
36. Ben Grieve - Athletics
42. Jeff Cirillo - Brewers
For awhile, it seemed like the only Brewer's card that any company produced was one of Jeff Cirillo. I guess the Brewers had a number of years that were pretty rough around this time...
44. Albert Belle - Orioles
87. Ray Lankford - Cardinals
117. Kerry Wood - Cubs
Pack 18:
4. Larry Walker - Rockies
50. Sandy Alomar - Indians
70. Curt Schilling - Phillies
72. Kenny Lofton - Indians
74. Kevin Brown - Dodgers
114. Greg Maddux - Braves
This is why he's the professor of pitching...
I think the second two packs were quite a bit better than the first two packs of the post, but none of the four packs "wowed" me in any meaningful way. I guess maybe because we didn't find any inserts nor Reds (and most of the Topps Gallery images are boring as compared to the beauty known as Stadium Club)!
From my choice of team, those were 4 crappy packs. :)
