Barry Larkin
Year: 1993
Brand: O-Pee-Chee Premier
Card number: 103
For years, O-Pee-Chee was nothing more than "French Canadian Topps" in my eyes. However, by1993 O-Pee-Chee was actually releasing their own card designs. This particular set was called O-Pee-Chee Premier. Unfortunately, the set doesn't quite live up to the grand name.
The front of the card features a too tightly cropped photo of Larkin along with a much too large company logo. Other than Larkin's uniform, there is no mention of a team name on the front of the card (something that I hate)! On the back, you get a single year's worth of statistics (here when I say statistics I actually mean exactly four statistical categories which is pathetic). You also get some of Larkin's vitals and a recycled image of Larkin (the same as the photo on the front of the card).
The one bright spot is the gigantic team logo - something that should have replaced the O-Pee-Chee logo on the front of the card if you ask me. Finally, the most disappointing part of the entire card? Almost no french whatsoever. Sure, you can learn how to say shortstop in french but otherwise...nothing!
