New Contest at Nachos Grande: Guess How Many Cards (and Win Some Packs)!

Over the past several weeks, I have spent time going through a giant box of cards that my brother gave me.  Since acquiring that first box, my brother has sent me another three boxes - each equally stuffed full of cards.  Today, I shift my sorting to the second of the four boxes!

Within the second box were a bunch of unopened packs of cards - and that's what spurred me to hold this simple little contest.

Using the above scan as a guide, tell me in the comments section how many cards TOTAL are supposed to be in the packs of cards that my brother included for me.  By this, I mean what is the sum of the number of cards according to the pack wrappers of the various packs.

The prize for this simple contest?

You'll get a small envelope filled with unopened packs (perhaps even some of the ones you see above).  Free packs to open are always fun - you can use them to pad your own pack stash or simply rip 'em and have pack wars.  Heck, maybe you'll even luck out and get a pack or two of a set you like and/or want to start collecting!  You never know.

Rules:

  1. Everyone may make one guess in the comments below.  Whoever gets the number exactly correct wins (if more than one person guesses the right number I will randomly choose one winner).
  2. Unfortunately, since packs of cards are relatively heavy to mail, this contest is only open to people who have a US mailing address.  Sorry about that.
  3. If you provide a "pimp" post on your blog (or twitter feed), you get a second guess - but you must include said link in your comment or your second guess will be invalid.  If you are sure your first guess was correct, you can use your second guess and repeat your first guess - thus increasing your chances of winning should someone else also guess the same number as you did.
  4. Finally, if no one guesses the exact correct number of cards, the winner will be the person who was closest (without going over the total ala Price is Right rules).
  5. The contest will close at 9:00 PM EST on Friday, June 6.

To get you going, I'll give you a few hints:

  1. There are a 15 packs of cards that you need to count in the contest.  All but one of the packs is at least somewhat visible in the image above.  The one pack that didn't show up in the scan at all is a sixth blue pack - exactly the same as the five that are visible along the right hand side of the image.
  2. Puzzle pieces, Magic Motion cards, stickers, etc. do not count in the total sum.  Only proper baseball (or player) cards count.  Again, using the stated total on each pack wrapper.
  3. I used my rudimentary Photoshop skills to block out the number of cards in the packs (at least those that were readable from the scan)...you didn't want this to be super easy did you?

Good luck everyone!
