Baseball Cards to Make Me Feel Better (from Doctor Junior Junkie)!

While most of my readers probably know all about The Junior Junkie (and if you don't, seriously, go read his blog), you might not have known that the 'ol Junkie is actually a doctor.

...or at least he spent some time in a Holiday Inn last night.

See, Junior Junkie included a prescription in a recent PWE that he mailed me:

Yep, the only cure for group break blues is a card full of Reds!

First, TJ (aka The Junior Junkie) managed to pull a Reds' autograph out of Stadium Club - so he graciously sent it to me.

That's Tony Cingrani (though you'd never know from that scribble)!  Last year was a bit rough for Mr. Cingrani but with the Reds about to lose the majority of their starting rotation I can only hope that Tony manages to turn it back around next year!

Next, an older card from a set put out by Megacards.  I have no idea who/what Megacards is...but it's a pretty cool card of Ken Griffey Jr. and his dad.

You have to think that The Junior Junkie has lots of cool Griffeys like that!

While T.J. may have cornered the market on Griffeys, I like to think I've done the same for Barry Larkin.  T.J. helped me maintain a stranglehold on that collection by sending me another Barry Larkin card - and this one's a beauty.

You'll see it featured on my ongoing Barry Larkin Collection series at some point soon(ish).

The final two cards in the PWE (one heckuva a PWE wouldn't you say?!) were both Topps Finest beauties.  One being Joey Votto and the other being Billy Hamilton!

The Finest cards are some of the most colorful cards that I've seen since the mid-90s.  I like a little color once in a while so these are both instant keepers for me!

Many, many thanks for the great cards T.J.!  The PWE was a great surprise package - and with tomorrow being my birthday I'll even consider an early birthday present!  Finally, as always, should anyone else want to work out a trade, check out my want list and make an offer!

  1. Well that was awfully nice of him! Also, you should have been in my Triple Threads break last year. I pulled 7 Reds hits, including a Johnny Bench bat unity relic.
