Barry Larkin & Mo Vaughn
Year: 1996
Brand: Leaf
Card number: 105
Subset: Checklist
Checklist cards are generally quite boring - so getting a checklist with two star players on it, along with team logos, is actually a nice surprise! I could do without all the foil on Larkin's side of the card (notice how much nicer Vaughn's side scans). No matter though, this is a solid design. The only weird bit is that both Larkin and Vaughn appear in the checklist on the Vaughn side of the card. I wonder why Leaf didn't put someone like Wade Boggs or Pedro Martinez (or even Tony Gwynn) on the front of the card and then Larkin (or Vaugn - booo!) on the back. I like my cards having a bit more synergy in the various aspects, but even so, I can't complain too much about a checklist card featuring Larkin!

I believe they shared the card because they were MVPs of their respective leagues the previous season. I'd guess that Hideo Nomo and Marty Cordova share a checklist, as well as Greg Maddux and Randy Johnson.
