I'm still working my way through the big pile of trade envelopes that had stacked up over the last few weeks (and months). My semester of work is all but done...this week is the week before finals so it is mostly a lot of reviewing material with the students as they prepare to impress me by showing me all that they learned this semester!
Speaking of impressing, someone who always impresses me is Mark from Collector's Crack. Mark and I swapped packages back in August....and now that it is almost December I figured I might as well show off what he sent my way!
We begin with the big prize:
That's a 1992 Bowman Larkin card that is brand new for my collection. It's getting more and more rare for me to acquire a new Larkin card...and to land a new one from back in 1992 is even more impressive since I've got quite a few from that year!
Next, Mark sent along a pair of Reds' autographs.
The Bowman Heritage auto is of Sam LeCure while the Topps auto is of Tony Cingrani. LeCure had a decent season or two with the Reds but isn't anything more than a middling middle reliever. Cingrani, on the other hand, has a much higher upside but he'll have to learn at least one more pitch to go along with his fastball if he ever hopes to become more than fourth or fifth starter material.
Before I show off the last of the cards, I'd be remiss if I didn't quote a portion of Mark's letter that he included...
Unfortunately Mark, I have a feeling both our teams will be battling for fourth place for another year at least given the firepower of the Cubs, the scrappiness of the Pirates, and the general luck of the Cardinals.
While that is a depressing thought for me, let's return to something a bit happier (and much shinier). The final three cards for today's post are all courtesy of Mark!
That Cueto is numbered out of 242...you don't get a lot of cards serially numbered out of 242!
Thanks for the great trade Mark! And, as always, if anyone else would like to trade be sure to check out my want list and make an offer. After all, my stack of unposted packages is almost whittled down to nothing!

What's up with MLB? The Astros leave our division and get good and our teams are fighting for the basement in the NL Central.

Great Larkin card!
ReplyDeleteAnytime. I had thought about emailing to make sure you got the package, but I figured you were pretty busy with your last group break.
