The 2015 Topps High Tek set is chock full of parallels. The main base set features six different version of Barry Larkin (Waves, Dots, Pipes, Chain Link, Diamonds, and Grid patterns - all of which I have in my collection and previously wrote about). In addition to those, there are a number of serially numbered parallel cards which all use the Waves pattern as a base but then add some sort of color or shine variation to the design.
The most common of the serially numbered parallels is the Confetti Diffractor seen above. These are numbered out of 99 which makes them about as rare as the Chain Link base cards. The Confetti cards have a lot more shine to them as compared to the regular Waves card. You can't necessarily tell from the scan but all the space between the dark lines in the background has a nice shimmer effect going on. It's definitely a card that would stand out if you pulled it from a pack...but as a player collector I can't justify opening packs of High Tek hoping on the off chance of pulling a Barry Larkin card. I can thank eBay for this card (and all the other 2015 Topps High Tek cards in my collection)!

Nice, I just picked up my first pair of '15 Teks off COMC for a buck each, not serial numbered though.
ReplyDeleteThe 2015 Tek cards are pretty darn nice! I've tracked down all of the Larkins that are numbered above 25 (plus all of the cards that aren't serially numbered) at this point (I think). Unfortunately, you are better off buying singles though than boxes...too expensive for the small amount of cards that you get in a box in my opinion.
