Barry Larkin
Year: 2015
Brand: Topps High Tek
Parallel: Sky Rainbow
Card number: HT-BL (#18/79)
The Sky Rainbow parallels were only produced for the "B" players in the set...and in a frustrating move for collectors, the Sky Rainbow cards were only released in boxes produced for release in Asia! You can find more about the Sky Rainbow parallel on Beckett's webpage here.
As for the Larkin card itself, it's numbered out of only 79 making it slightly rarer than the Confetti Diffractors (which are numbered out of 99). However, since the cards were only released in Asian markets, you'll basically have to use eBay to track one of the Sky Rainbow parallels down (thus I would assume that these parallels will be quite rare stateside)! The basic design is similar to the regular Waves pattern but this card has a distinctive blue tint to it (that doesn't show up great in the scan). For such a tough card to track down, I will admit that the design is a bit lacking...that said, I'm still happy to count this card among the Barry Larkin cards in my collection - and it gets me one step closer to having all of the Larkin cards from 2015 Topps High Tek as well!

All in indeed! I hope you've got a post planned that show all the Tek Larkins together. I'm also curious if you have a lot of competition in acquiring these? Seems as a Yount collector I run into the deep pocket guys that will always over bid me for some of the rarer stuff.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I hope to put every Larkin in a single post once I get them all scanned and written about individually. There's still one more card numbered out of 25 that I don't yet own (plus stuff numbered 5 or lower that I'm not really trying for). As for deep pockets, yes, every super rare card has gone for way more than I'd ever spend...including all 5 of the red orbit parallels!
