Barry Larkin
Year: 1997
Brand: Upper Deck Collector's Choice
Insert set: The Big Show
Card number: 17
The Big Show insert set was seeded one-per-pack in Series One packs of 1997 Upper Deck Collector's Choice. There is also a parallel of the Big Show cards called The Big Show World Headquarters Edition which were seeded 1:35 packs. I own both Barry Larkin versions, but for today we will look at the "regular" card.
The front of the card is printed on a foil board card stock and features a nice photo of Larkin tipping his cap. You calso get a pair of ESPN personalities front and center (Keith Olberman and Dan Patrick). I have no real complaints about the front of the card.
The back of the card, however, is a disaster. I HATE that there is two "stories" about Larkin, one presumably by Olberman, the other by Patrick, that are overlaid line-by-line. Sure, the fonts are different but that's a terrible way to lay out a card back.
