A TCDB Surprise Card from mpdillard25!

Group Break: 2016 Panini Donruss: Who Wants an Autograph?! (#/199)

I've got quite a few packs to go through in the 2016 Panini Donruss box so let's not waste any more time with a pointless blog post preamble.

Pack 9:
128.  CC Sabathia - Yankees
142.  Evan Longoria - Rays
133.  Adam Wainwright - Cardinals
168.  Eduardo Rodriguez - Red Sox
164.  Odubel Herrera - Phillies
Pink border Diamond Kings:  27.  Evan Longoria - Rays

The pink borders seem to be all over this set - including the Diamond Kings set.  A pretty nice pickup for the Rays I suppose!
USA Baseball:  3. KJ Harrison - Indians

KJ was selected by the Indians back in the 2014 draft, but he didn't sign.  Still, that makes him more of a Cleveland player than any other team so he goes into the Cleveland pile.
1982 Base:  21.  Nolan Arenado - Rockies

Another pretty cool image, a bit different than the norm (and perfect for a brand that can't show logos).

Not a bad pack, let's keep the good times rolling.

Pack 10:
157.  Yasmany Tomas - Diamondbacks
162.  Rusney Castillo - Red Sox
64.  Buster Posey - Giants
60.  Kris Bryant - Cubs
69.  Xander Bogaerts - Red Sox
USA Baseball:  1.  Buddy Reed

According to minorleaguebaseball.com, Buddy is projected to go in the first round of the 2016 MLB draft.  The MLB draft isn't something that I follow (but it turns out that Day 1 of the draft is today)!  I guess I should wait and see who ends up drafting Buddy and put this card in that pile.
1982 Base:  41.  Cal Ripken - Orioles

An interesting shot of the Iron Man.  It appears that he is in some sort of parade or something.
Donruss Signature Series:  Blue Parallel:  TJ.  Travis Jankowski - Padres (#067/199)

Travis plays for the Padres - with a .234 batting average so far this year.  While he probably doesn't count as any sort of super (or semi-) star, it's still a nice autograph card pickup for Jordan who ended up with the Padres as the randomized team.

That is two of the promised three hits in the box...but since I already ripped the entire box, I can tell you that we actually ended up with four hits rather than three.  I'll have more from the box coming up in future posts...and then once this box is finished off we can move on to the remaining three boxes.

Comments

  1. The Ripken card would be from the trip he took around the field in a 1961 Corvette following his final game in 2001.
