Barry Larkin
Year: 2016
Brand: Topps Legacies of Baseball
Insert set: Vault Metals
Card number: 27 (#30/135)
The Vault Metals are essentially the base cards of the high end Topps Legacies of Baseball set. Each box contains 4 cards, 2 autographs, 1 insert, and 1 Vault Metal card. This is the "base" version of the Vault Metal Larkin (there is also a purple version #/50, a red version #/25, and a black version #1). The card is printed on a shiny aluminum metal - it's thick but not as heavy as you might expect for a metal card (thanks to aluminum being a relatively light metal).
As for the "card" itself, it's not bad. The front has vibrant colors - and the image is alright (though I find it difficult to read Larkin's name at the bottom of the card). The back of the card features a small write up (which is fine) but no statistics at all (which makes me sad). I do like the fact that the write up references the photo on the front of the card - that isn't something that we see much of in recent sets any more!

I kind of like the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) design of these cards - I might have to try and pick one up one of these days.
