Check Out My Cards: Volume II (A 2008 Set Finished!)

Yesterday, I talked about my recent Check Out My Cards purchase and I showed off the first card (out of the 24 total cards that I ordered).  That card happened to be from the 2008 UD Timelines set - a set that I'm still working on.

Today, I'm pleased to show off two more cards from a set from 2008, though this time they are the final two cards that I needed!  The set in question?  None other than the gorgeous 2008 Upper Deck Masterpieces.

My final two cards that I needed to complete my set were both short prints (because of course they were).  The first was Joe DiMaggio.

That's a pretty nice action shot of DiMaggio - and despite this set quickly approaching being a decade old, I think I like it as much now as I did back in '08 when I decided to collect the entire thing.  That's kind of amazing because I often find my love a set wanes fairly quickly if the set sits on my want list for too long!

The last card that I needed ended up being one of my favorites in the set - a Roberto Clemente short print.

There's something about the black and yellow jersey that looks good to me here (maybe it's because I'm a Steelers fan).  Or, perhaps it's because this is it - I'm done with 2008 Upper Deck Masterpieces once and for all!

That's now 3 of the 24 cards that I've shown off...I'll have more from my purchase soon.  And yes, I know I'm dragging things out a bit here - but frankly I think each set deserves its own chance to shine!

  1. The black and yellow of the Pirates jersey definitely pairs nicely with the gold foil found on this set. Congratulations on completing such an impressive looking set!
