Barry Larkin Collection 487: 1998 Score Rookie & Traded - All-Star Epix Emerald - #E12

Barry Larkin
Year:  1998
Brand:  Score Rookie & Traded
Insert set:  All-Star Epix
Parallel set:  Emerald
Card number:  E12

The 1998 Pinnacle Epix set is a disaster to try and explain...so here's Baseballcardpedia's best attempt:
1998 Pinnacle Epix is a multi-tiered, multi-fractured, 72-card, cross-brand insert set. Randomly inserted in 1998 Pinnacle packs at the rate of one in 21, 1998 Score packs at 1:61 and 1998 Zenith packs at 1:11, the 24 players included in this set were featured on four different cards to commemorate (in ascending order of scarcity) their greatest play, game, season and moment. Each card was specific to a particular brand. To obtain all the cards for each player in this fractured insert set, one had to open Pinnacle, Score and Zenith packs. A final selection of Epix cards was slated for inclusion in 1998 Pinnacle Certified, but the manufacturer went bankrupt before that product shipped.
Each card is available in three different colors: Orange, Purple, and Emerald. Approximately 70% of all Epix are Orange, 20% Purple, and 10% Emerald. According to Pinnacle Brands, only 30 copies of each Emerald Moment card were produced although the cards are not serial-numbered.
Emerald Moment is the most rare while Orange Play is the least rare.
Printing plates for some cards also exist but it is unclear how these were distributed.
Phew!  That's a lot to digest - and I'm not even sure I'm 100% certain on all of it!  From what I can tell, the card that I own is one of the Epix Moments card in the Emerald (rarest) variety.  Amazingly, I don't own any of the other Pinnacle Epix cards - whether that be the other parallels of the Moment card OR any of the other versions (Play, Game, or Season).  Maybe someday I'll make a concerted effort to track the rest of the cards down seeing as how the one card that I do own is pretty nice looking!

UPDATE:

So, it turns out this particular card is from the 1998 Score Rookie & Traded set - and it's related to (but not quite the same) as the rest of the Pinnacle Epix set from the year 1998.  What can I say?  Baseball cards can be super confusing!
