I'm typing this post while I sit here watching the beginning of the Michigan / Iowa game. As a Penn State fan, I have to root for Iowa in this one...Penn State still has an outside shot at the Big 10 title game thanks to their win over Ohio State a couple of weeks ago (and since PSU squeaked by Indiana today).
I'm guessing that many of loyal baseball card readers don't care much about college football...so here's something you might care about: Another pack out of my 1997 Fleer Sports Illustrated box!
Pack 19:
68. Edgar Renteria
82. Bobby Bonilla
115. Raul Mondesi
174. Mike Piazza
Cooperstown Collection Covers: 7 of 12 CC. Joe Morgan
Great Shots: Darren Daulton
Woo! This is the only Reds' card in the 12 card Cooperstown Collection Covers insert set (cards seeded 1:12 packs). I'm super pumped to get this card for my collection (it's a great looking - magazine covers make for great baseball cards).
In addition to the insert, I also needed both the Bonilla and the Mondesi for my set. This was a good pack all the way around...and as I typed it up, Iowa just got a safety to make it an 8-2 game (Michigan still on top).
Will Iowa manage to knock off Michigan? Will I manage to finish off my entire 1997 Sports Illustrated set by the time I conclude the ripping of the packs from my box? Only time will tell...(although by the time this post goes live you'll know the answer to the Iowa question).

I love college football. I kind of scratch my head sometimes when I see people who let their loyalties get in the way of good judgement but on the whole it's a lot of fun. Got your wish I see. Heck of a game for the Hawkeyes.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, I don't care one bit for college football. Yawn. But that Morgan cover card - wow. That takes me straight back to my childhood. I revered SI covers then.
