2017 Topps Gallery: Finishing Off the Blaster

I fully admit that I'm a sucker for the 2017 Topps Gallery set.  This is my second blaster of the stuff...and since I bought this one, I purchased two more blasters (one of which is sitting unopened as I write this post...mostly as a self-bribe to actually complete this post)!

Anyhow, while I definitely love the set - I do not love the price...nor the stupid Artist Proof parallels.  In my first blaster, I had a horrible selection of players/teams to get parallels of (Marlins, Blue Jays, Royals, and A's, virtually all untradeable teams).

Speaking of the Artist's Proof parallels, I haven't yet opened this blaster's parallel pack.  Surely I can't do worse than last time, right?  Right?

Parallel pack:
70.  Giancarlo Stanton

Alright, Stanton is a good player but there are exactly ZERO Marlins collectors out there that I am aware of.

76.  Stephen Piscotty
88.  Yulieski Gurriel
90.  Eric Thames

Hey, a Brewer...a team that I actually have a suitor for...and this one is going directly into that trade stack as soon as I pick it up off the scanner bed.

Alright, not the worst parallel pack this time, though as a Reds fan it's never that much fun to pull a Cardinals card.

Packs 5 - 7:

The final three packs gave me 10 base cards.  Of those 10, I needed all 10 which is perfect.  I couldn't have asked for anything more there.  I also found two more inserts/parallels with the first being the George Brett Hall of Fame card shown above.

The other hit was much rarer.  How rare?  According to the pack wrapper, 1:252 packs rare.

That's an orange parallel of Greg Bird, numbered 07/25.  Pretty good for a retail pull (though in this case, all Topps Gallery cards are retail pulls since you can only find the set at WalMart from what I've seen).

Not a bad blaster, even if it didn't hold an autograph.  As I said at the outset, I have two more blasters of this stuff waiting to be written about (and in the case of one of those blasters, waiting to be opened up first)!  More Gallery to come I'm sure!

  1. Sounds like you're going for a set build. Good luck! (Oh, and stay away from the SPs... they're ridiculously scarce!)

I've looked in four different Wal-Marts and have yet to find so much as a pack. I guess for now I have to live vicariously through other people's blogs... Thanks for sharing these, even the stupid parallels.

One of these days a Marlins collector is going to pop up in the blogosphere and is going to get inundated with cards from every other blogger.
