Barry Larkin
Year: 1990
Brand: Star
Card number: 4
The fourth card in the eleven card Barry Larkin set from 1990 Star highlights one of Barry's accomplishments from the 1989 season: his Silver Slugger award. The image on the front of the card is nice, though I will forever hate writing on a card that is "sideways". That's one of the dangers of horizontal cards though - either they look good this way but bad in a binder, or they look better in a binder (the red borders all line up so to speak) but then the image is going up and down instead. I know I'd prefer sets either be all vertical or all horizontal for that reason alone.
I was only 7 years old in 1989 when Larkin won his Silver Slugger - so I certainly wasn't aware that the Reds actually had two winners that year (the other being Eric Davis in the outfield). Not bad to learn something new from a piece of cardboard that's nearly 30 years old now!

Dang. Didn't realize Biggio won a SS Award so early in his career.
