TCDB Monday: It's a Monster, Folks!

Another Relic for the Collection: An Authentic Worn Hat Piece

I went a long time without making any meaningful progress on my 2010 Topps Allen & Ginter want list and then Bam!  In the past couple of weeks I've acquired two brand new relics for my set!

Today's relic is an "authentic worn hat" of Tom Knapp, Target Shooting World Record Holder.

I decided back in 2010 (or maybe it was actually in 2011) to go after the 2010 A&G relic set since I happened to like that many of the relics were sort of "oddball relics."  It fit perfectly with the A&G brand and it makes acquiring each relic a lot of fun (such as my last relic which was a piece of a tie)!  I like that this particular relic bit seems to actually match the hat that Tom is wearing in the card's photograph.  That's a nice touch, even if it isn't the same hat.

In case you happen to have any 2010 Ginter still lying around, here's what I'm still trying to acquire:
2010 Allen & Ginter Wants:
World's Biggest:  6, 7, 9, 14, 15, 19, 25
Celestial Stars:  CS 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11
Regular back minis:  6, 8, 20, 34, 54, 58, 106, 109,  114, 170, 178, 184, 212, 228, 230, 231, 235, 246, 254, 274, 280, 294
Relics:
AGA.  Anthony Gatto
AJ.  Avery Jenkins
DB.  David Blaine
DBR.  Drew Brees
DH.  Dan Haren
DU.  Dan Uggla
DW.  David Wright
GSI.  Glenn Singleman
IS.  Ichiro Suzuki
KF.  Kosuke Fukudome
LB.  Lance Berkman
MM.  Marvin Miller
NF.  Neftali Feliz
PP.  Preston Pittman
RH.  Ryan Howard (bat only)
SJ.  Shawn Johnson
TB. Tyler Brandt
TH. Tony Hawk
YG.  Yovani Gallardo

As you can see, not only am I still looking for a fair number of relic cards, I'm also missing a fair number of minis!  It'd be great if I could finish off at least one or two of the sets here before the end of 2020.  After all, one of my stated resolutions for this year is to get my want list down to under 90 sets which means I need to finish a number of different sets - I think the three mini sets here should all be fairly easy to complete if I put my mind (and wallet) to it!

  1. For the record, I’ve been following this project of yours and man, I’m rooting for you! Such a cool undertaking. Where else in the world are you going to get this collection of people?

    1. It's certainly getting tougher and tougher to find the last few cards that I need! I think the biggest problem is the fact that the set is a decade old now, there simply aren't many people selling/trading cards from ten years ago!
