TCDB Monday: It's a Monster, Folks!

The Black Mamba has Arrived!

Today is the second consecutive day where I have a single-card eBay purchase to show off from a (somewhat) obscure set.  Yesterday, it was a dinosaur patch card - today it's a snake!

That's one of the five cards from the rare 2007 Allen & Ginter Deadliest Snakes stealth insert set.  The entire checklist for this set is as follows:

  1. Arizona Coral Snake
  2. Copperhead
  3. Black Mamba
  4. King Cobra
  5. Cottonmouth

With the Black Mamba finally in my possession, I now own 60% of this set (I'm still missing the Arizona Coral Snake and the Cottonmouth Snake).  Personally, I'm not a huge "snake guy" in real life but I have to admit that this particular insert is pretty cool.  I mean, who doesn't love deadly snakes on their baseball cards?!

Alright, plenty of people probably don't love snakes on their cards (or on their planes) but for me I'm happy to have one less card to track down from my want list.  The year 2020 was a good one for my want list as I was able to knock off a bunch of sets but it's quite possible that 2021 might even better given the progress I've made on sets thus far, especially some of the more challenging sets such as the snake set!

Comments

  1. Weird coincidence. Yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of the helicopter crash that took the lives of The Black Mamba and eight others.

  2. I was thinking the same thing (cue Twilight Zone theme song here)

  3. I hadn't seen a card from this set before, but really dig the look of this one!
