TCDB Monday: It's a Monster, Folks!

Going "All-In" on 2022 Topps Chrome Platinum Parallels (and Autographs)!

One of my favorite "new" sets that Topps has put out recently is the Topps Chrome Platinum Anniversary brand.  I'm a sucker for nice chrome cards - and I'm also a sucker for large base sets full of interesting players.  Topps Chrome Platinum Anniversary (despite the stupid name) checks both of those boxes for me!  I'm also a sucker for interesting parallels - especially for Barry Larkin cards.  Once again, Topps Chrome Platinum Anniversary delivers.

Today, I've got some more goodies from 2022 Topps Chrome Platinum Anniversary to show off starting with this Refractor parallel that I grabbed off of eBay.

I also raided Sportlots and found another Larkin parallel that I needed:

That's a Black & White Mini Diamond Refractor, exclusive to the Lite boxes (basically boxes without autographs).  I don't love parallels being exclusive to specific forms of distribution (hobby vs. retail is bad enough but I hate parallels that are only in "fat packs" or "Lite boxes."

Finally, I saved the best for last today (once again, from eBay)!

Yeah, my first Barry Larkin autograph from the set!  There are another six autograph parallels for me to try and acquire but honestly, just getting the "regular" autograph is good enough for me!  Larkin has a great signature and I think this particular autograph card looks amazing.

There are tons of Barry Larkin cards in the set for me to try and track down (and remember, I ignore anything with a stated print run of under 25 copies)!

Comments

  1. I'm working on the Connor Wong rainbow as well. I am targeting everything, including the 1/1s. So far, out of 46 parallels, I have gotten 27 with two more coming. I have managed to get the red autograph, black autograph, and a black parallel among the rarer ones. Good luck on your quest. Yours is even harder since you are going after a much more notable player.

  2. I'm not too keen on the design, but this year's autographs look considerably better than those from last year.
