The Ultimate Ginter Full-Sized Insert Set Bracket!: Seeding Vote #4 (2009)

For the first part of the bracket creation, we need to seed the various full-sized insert sets.  I thought it'd be fun to first have a vote for the best insert set within each year and use each year vote winner as a top seed.  From there, I'll fill in the rest of the bracket with the remaining full-sized sets.

I also hope that each of these Seeding Vote posts give you a bit of information about each of the insert sets for a specific year.  That should help with your voting as we move forward into the heart of the Ultimate Ginter Full-Sized Insert Set Bracket.  I laid out the rest of the ground rules in my introductory post so feel free to check that post out as well.  Now, we move on to the good stuff (and remember to vote at the bottom of the post by leaving a comment with your choice)!

Today, we take a look at the full-sized inserts from 2009 Topps Allen & Ginter.

The 2009 Topps Allen & Ginter set contained a pair of full-sized insert sets, though for the first time neither set was printed on super thick card stock.

The largest full-sized set was the 75 card National Pride set.

This set featured current players of the day with their home country's flag as part of the card design.  I'm on the record as saying I love flag cards and I do think that this is a solid set design where the flag really shines.

The other full-sized insert was the Highlight Sketches set.

This 25 card set features sketches of a variety of baseball highlights from recent years (not necessarily from the previous year, however).  Here's the full checklist for this set:
  • AGHS1 Aaron Boone
  • AGHS2 Ken Griffey Jr.
  • AGHS3 Randy Johnson
  • AGHS4 Carlos Zambrano
  • AGHS5 Josh Hamilton
  • AGHS6 Josh Beckett
  • AGHS7 Manny Ramirez
  • AGHS8 Derek Jeter
  • AGHS9 Frank Thomas
  • AGHS10 Jim Thome
  • AGHS11 Francisco Rodriguez
  • AGHS12 New York Yankees
  • AGHS13 David Wright
  • AGHS14 Ichiro
  • AGHS15 Jon Lester
  • AGHS16 Alex Rodriguez
  • AGHS17 Chipper Jones
  • AGHS18 Derek Jeter
  • AGHS19 Albert Pujols
  • AGHS20 CC Sabathia
  • AGHS21 David Price
  • AGHS22 Ken Griffey Jr.
  • AGHS23 Brad Lidge
  • AGHS24 Mariano Rivera
  • AGHS25 Evan Longoria

Now, it's your turn to vote!  Which set from 2009 Allen & Ginter will get the top the seed?  Every vote matters when it comes to set seeding in the end, so make your voice heard in the comments below!

  2. I don't have strong feelings either way, and I don't think I've ever actually seen any of these, but I'll give a slight edge the highlight sketches.

  4. Not crazy about the sketches. I like the National Pride set -- a little large, but it looks nice and a good theme.
