We've finally made it to the day where I finish my first pass of my non-Reds Frankenset. Today, we'll look at the last three pages which will be card #'s 577 through 603. As I mentioned a few posts ago, the pickings have proven to be incredibly slim as the card numbers got higher so I called an audible and decided that I'd cap my set at card #603 rather than #792 as originally planned. Of course, I also did cards #1-99 twice each, so my final set will still be over 700 cards strong!
Cards #577 - 585:
Best card on the page: I love the Mike Lowell card with the clear shot of the crowd. How neat would it be to be one of the fans on the card?
Worst card on the page: The Randy Myers card isn't great but otherwise this is a solid page, especially given how high the card numbers are.
Cards 586 - 594:
Best card on the page: Overall, I think this is a rather weak page. I guess the best card is the Carlton Fisk but honestly, none of them are standouts.
Worst card on the page: The Alex Gonzalez card is cheesy but not in a good way.
Cards 595 - 603:
Best card on the page: I mean, is there a better way to end a Frankenset than with a card like Jose Lind and his shades?!
Worst card on the page: This whole page is great, a strong end to the Frankenset!
#'s missing still: 32, 91, 148, 153, 194, 195, 196, 196, 227, 247, 279, 347, 353, 368, 369, 373, 375, 399, 401, 406, 415, 417, 436, 445, 459, 463, 465, 466, 471, 473, 476, 485, 488, 489, 490, 491, 493, 496, 497, 498, 499, 506, 507, 511, 512, 516, 522, 523, 533, 536, 538, 541, 547, 553, 560, 563, 564, 567, 568, 570, 576, 579, 580, 587, 588, 589, 594, 602
That does it for the first run of my non-Reds Frankenset. Of course, my dream is to have the set be a "living" set in that I'll be constantly adding to it and/or swapping in and out cards as I acquire new cards. Thanks for coming along for the ride while I built the set, even if it took me years!

A. The guy with the white hair and black sweater vest stands out more than Lowell does. I wonder if he knows he's featured on this card.
ReplyDeleteB. The Jeter turning two is my favorite out of these three pages. Great action shot of a legend.
I really like that Omar Visquel card. Congrats on finishing the set, even if you had to cut it a bit short. I know I couldn't go that far.
ReplyDeleteGreat way to end it! Looking forward to the eventual updates!
