My blog has been full of Allen & Ginter recently and today is no exception to that rule. However, while my recent posts have all featured 2024 Allen & Ginter, today we get to go back to the original Allen & Ginter sets from the late 1800s. More specifically, today I am pleased to show off my most recent addition from the 1888 Allen & Ginter City Flags set:
The flag of Toulouse proved to be a fairly difficult card to track down and I definitely spent a little bit more than I would have liked to acquire this particular card. That said, this might be the City Flag in the best condition in my entire set build so it was probably money well spent (and it still cost me less than what a retail blaster of something modern would have set me back).
At this point in time, I'm down to needing only five more cards before I'll have the full 1888 City Flags set complete. Here's what I'm still looking for on the off chance someone reading this has one (or more?) available for trade or sale:
- Catalonia
- Nice
- Rotterdam
- Rouen
- Saint-Etienne
I still can't get over the fact that I'm nearly done with another original Allen & Ginter set from the 1800s!
That's so cool that you're only five cards away from owning a complete set of cards that are over 135 years old!
