Today, it's time to dive into the fifth box out of my case of 2024 Allen & Ginter. For the first time in the case, I pulled a box topper that wasn't a standard baseball player topper. Instead, I got a giant corn dog card!
Those who hate Allen & Ginter will rightfully point at a card like this and say "See, who wants that crap?" while those of us who love Ginter will celebrate finding a deep-fried hot dog in our box. I think this is one of those cases where both sides are correct, given their own views and experiences! As for me, mark me down in the "happy for a hot dog" camp.
Moving on to the highlights of the packs, we'll start with the mini parallels of note:
The Acuna black bordered mini will probably end up as useful trade bait on TCDB. No other minis of note in the box (the Woo is my Chrome mini). In fact, this box was light on all minis of note as I also only ended up with four mini inserts (I think all of the other boxes in the case thus far have had five mini inserts):
On the bright side, that is my first Batoids Beneath mini so I'm happy to pull that one. I still have a long way to go to get all 50 of the State cards, that'll definitely be a challenging set build this year! And speaking of that, I'm currently looking to trade for all 2024 A&G mini inserts so if you have any you don't want let me know!
Finally, we get to our full-sized parallels beginning with a couple of Dodger Chrome cards and some guy named Metro Boomin.
The big hit of the box, however, was this Gold Chrome of Heston Kjerstad numbered out of only 50 copies.
The Gold Chrome cards look amazing in hand! Unfortunately, the three relics I pulled don't look nearly as cool, especially when you see that two of the three are Yankees.
Overall, the Gold Chrome card did a lot of work to save this box from being the worst of the case thus far. Even so, it wasn't a great box overall but I'm still enjoying ripping through each box of Ginter this year!
