TCDB Monday: Trading Season Begins!

Happy Monday, everyone.  We are now firmly entrenched into the month of November and with that comes Allen & Ginter season!  You can (hopefully) expect some busy TCDB mailbag posts over the next several weeks as I work diligently work the trade lines in an attempt to build the many, many different inserts and parallel sets that I've decided to build from this year's Ginter set.

Today, I have the fruits of a few of my earliest Ginter trades on TCDB.  Let's get right to it!

We begin with a simple one-for-one swap with user cdorso:

I traded off one of the cool X-Ray duplicates that I had in exchange for the retail-only Mini Rookie Design Variation card you see above.  The retail-only cards are rather annoying for me since I generally get most of my Ginter cards from my case of (hobby) boxes which means that this is my first card from that retail set!

Next, from user GalapagosPhanatic comes a pair of mini Chrome parallels:

I think I'm going to chase this year's mini Chrome set so I jumped at the chance to get a couple of the "lesser" names from the set right away.  Unfortunately, the Chrome set includes plenty of big names that I'll also have to try and track down but for now, any progress is good progress!

Sticking with Ginter, my third trade that arrived last week was from user jmkidd:

That's one of the scratch-and-sniff cards called Got the Itch.  This one is supposed to smell like grass but I have to say that I don't get any whiffs of grass when I rub the card.

Next up, the largest swap that arrived last week (courtesy of user frankgifford):

I'll always be happy to land five A&G minis in a single trade!  I'm also now up to two different retail-only Rookie Variation cards.  The US States set is (obviously) 50 cards strong so I've got a ways to go on that one.  Finally, I can't say I've ever had Tator Tots at a baseball game...heck, I can't even recall seeing them as an option to buy but the photo does remind me of my childhood school lunches, and with that, now I'm hungry!

Finally, we end with one more small A&G trade, this one thanks to user tfalasco:

That's two more US State cards including the card of my home state (Pennsylvania).  Still a long ways to go on the US set but every step forward is a good step!

Overall, a super solid start to "trading season" as I like to refer to this time of year.  I've got plenty more trades that should be on the way (and several others sent out on TCDB where I'm waiting to hear back from the other party).  I also still need a ton of cards from this year's A&G set - so let me know if you have any available for trade!

  1. Sad that you can't smell the grass. Maybe the previous owned used up all the scent?
