I spent the month of December counting down my Top 50 board games each Friday so I didn't have time to do my usual monthly board game recap posts. As such, I'm going to combine November and December on Board Game Arena into a single post.
Here is the full list of what I played in November and December:
I only managed to play a total of 64 games in November and December, and of those, I won 22 of them (34.4% winning percentage). For comparison, in October of 2024, I completed 87 games on Board Game Arena in that month alone!
The only new-to-me game during the holiday period was Terraforming Mars which I played three times.
Terraforming Mars is a lot like Ark Nova in that you are playing a card game where you care a lot about tons and tons of symbols. Terraforming Mars does differ in that you have a shared central board so you do need to keep an eye on what your opponents are up to a bit more than perhaps you do in Ark Nova. I enjoyed my plays of the game and would happily play it again online though I don't think I'll be looking to add the game to my physical board game collection (I already own Ark Nova in physical form and I have enough trouble trying to find someone to play that one with me)!
Other than Terraforming Mars, the rest of my played list looks quite similar to previous months. I'm still enjoying Lost Ruins of Arnak, I found a few people on Board Game Arena who also love the game and we constantly have multiple games going with each other at once. I did end up downloading the Through the Ages: A New Story of Civilization app on my phone so you probably won't see that game on BGA lists moving forward, or at least, not as often since the app is a superior way to play.
With the holidays over, I do figure to be on BGA a lot more again so if anyone out there would like to play a game (or more) with me, let me know! I'm always up for learning new games on the site as well.
