One of the more innovative inserts in the 2024 Topps Allen & Ginter set is the 20-card Got the Itch mini set. The gimmick of this particular set is that each card is based on a specific fragrance - and if you rub the card you can actually smell the subject matter!
I'm nearly done collecting the set and I managed to get myself a bit closer thanks to a recent eBay purchase consisting of a lot of three Got the Itch cards:
Of the three, I only needed the Cinnamon Bun card (which definitely smells like cinnamon)! Despite only needing one of the three cards, the purchase was worthwhile for me and I figure the other two cards (Watermelon and Coconut) will make for useful trade bait over on TCDB.
I commend Topps for doing something a bit different (it's one of the reasons I return to the A&G brand year after year). In this case, the gimmick worked quite well and I've enjoyed acquiring (and smelling) each of the cards. Not too often I can say that about collecting a set of cards!
These are really cool. I picked up the pineapple card a while back. They remind me of the scratch n' sniff stickers from my childhood. Best of luck on completing this set.
