Got the Itch?

TCDB Monday: Getting Back into the Swing of Things

Today's the first Monday of 2025 and with it comes my hopes of returning to the blog full-time.  I had a few weeks to spend with family and friends which meant the blog got neglected but not any longer, family and friends have gone home and now it's just me and my computer (and baseball cards)!  What better way to kick off blogging again than with another TCDB trade wrap-up post?!

Let's start with a trade with user Stevelin:

This particular swap was originally agreed upon back in November and we each exchanged our cards in a timely fashion.  However, Stevelin ended up sending me regular Chrome cards rather than the Chrome Refractors that I'm collecting...but he made it right by sending me the correct cards* that you see above - it just took until the end of December to complete the trade fully.  No worries though, I appreciate Stevelin going above and beyond in terms of purchasing and mailing me the correct cards - and hopefully, within a few days, he'll have his regular Chrome cards back from me!

*I didn't look close enough until I scanned the cards to see that I actually was sent the regular Chrome version of Tucker again.  Normally, this would have annoyed me since this was the replacement envelope, however, I ended up acquiring the needed Refractor Tucker card in a different trade so I'll consider this water under the bridge!

Next, a larger trade with user lmcgown:

This was one of the larger swaps I've made on TCDB, at least in terms of trades involving 2024 Allen & Ginter!  We'll start with the highlight of the swap - a Barry Larkin full-size relic (and a Chrome Refractor).

I hadn't yet seen this year's Larkin relic so I'm happy to have been able to trade for one!  I would prefer Larkin's A&G relics to be of the framed variety but I think this is actually the first time Barry has a full-size relic in A&G (I might be wrong about that but that's what my memory is telling me).

In addition to the above cards, lmcgown also sent me 12 needed Chrome minis for my set build.

Getting 12 cards out of the 100 card set at once is awesome, especially when you consider that I've been working on the various A&G set builds for a while now!  Lovely trade and it feels good to knock a whole bunch of cards off of my want list all at once!

Next up, another large trade!  This one was with user schwefumbler and I was able to acquire both 2024 A&G and 2024 Stadium Club wants in one swoop.  Let's start with the Stadium Club - and I think you'll quickly see what I was going for:

Yep, three different Barry Larkin parallels from this year's Stadium Club set.  There's the Chrome version, the Red Foil version, and the Gold Foil version.  I'm only chasing after the various Larkin cards from this year's Stadium Club, I won't allow myself to entertain the idea of collecting the full set!

Sets that I will try to collect from 2024 include most of the A&G mini insert sets as well as the mini Chrome set.

I was able to land a bunch of needed minis (plus a Kershaw Chrome Refractor)!  I'm ever-so-close to completing most of the mini insert sets from 2024 Ginter - hopefully, I'll be able to complete the remaining insert sets prior to the 2025 edition of Allen & Ginter being released!

My next trade was a tiny trade - literally:

That's a lone 2024 A&G Chrome mini courtesy of user Jozimek.  I'm happy to complete any size trade so long as I am getting cards that I need for my set build (or Larkin collection).  In this case, I was able to mail off several base cards for the Kershaw which means this swap was a double win for me (unwanted cards went out of my house and a needed card went into my set binder)!

Finally, we end with a swap with user mrhaverkamp:

A pair of Yankee legends, Jeter for my 1997 Metal Universe set build and Mantle for my 2024 Topps Silver Pack Chrome Series 2 build!  Not a bad way to begin the new year - solid set build progress all around.

Overall, it was an excellent week or so of trading and I am happy to get back into the swing of the hobby again!
