I told myself that I wouldn't collect this year's Topps flagship set. However, after hosting a group break consisting of several boxes of 2025 Topps, I found myself loving the 1990 Topps 35th Anniversary Chrome set so much that I decided I'd bend my own rule a bit and allow myself to chase after the 100-card insert set. This is a fun goal since I'm also working on the 1989 Topps 35th Anniversary Chrome set from last year's Topps flagship set.
Since the group break didn't yield any of the Chrome cards for me to keep for myself (i.e. we didn't pull any Reds from our Silver Packs), I decided to hit up eBay looking for some relatively cheap starter lots. Luckily, plenty of people were already looking to unload their shiny 90s so I jumped in and grabbed my first bunch of cards - ten different cards to be precise!
That's right, one eBay buy and I'm already 10% done with the set build...if only the remaining 90% would be so quick and easy! I must say, the 1990 Topps design was never my favorite design as a kid BUT with the Mojo Chrome treatment, the design looks amazing! The shiny Chrome makes the colored borders really pop nicely - and the cards still have some of that "old school" charm for me as well. I look forward to acquiring more of these and I'm positive the set will look amazing once it's complete in my set binder!
Agreed who would have known 35 years ago - that if you Chromed up 1990 Topps you would have created a masterpiece
