Welcome back to the third consecutive post detailing the goodies that Rod (from Padrographs) recently mailed my way!
Most of the remaining cards in the box were of the "oddball" Allen & Ginter variety - or, as Rod knows, exactly the kind of stuff I love! Rod included several base cards of oddball subjects as well as a healthy dose of assorted inserts spread across several years of A&G sets:
From the above bunch, I think the Sport Fish & Fishing Lures set is probably my favorite (with the Moose card a close second). The Sport Fish set is a nice throwback to the original Allen & Ginter fish set, which just so happens to be a set that I've completed in full (here's my gallery for the 1889 A&G 50 Fish from American Waters set).
The one bummer from Rod's package is that the small box in which he sent the cards must have been dropped by the USPS at some point in its journey. As you can probably see if you study the above scan closely, almost every full-sized card in the box has a damaged lower right corner.
While the damaged corners are certainly a bummer, let's end on a high note with some more Barry Larkin cards! Yep, Rod packed in some more (A&G) Larkin cards for me:
In the end, I'd say that Rod hit my collecting interests square on the head. Lots of Allen & Ginter including some minis that I still needed for my set build (and luckily for me, the minis in the box escaped with minimal corner damage).
Many, many thanks to Rod for A) thinking of me and B) taking the time to craft such a lovely, personalized care package! It was a lot of fun to go through and I was able to make more progress on some set builds while I did so. Good stuff and much, much appreciated!
