For the third day in a row, I have an eBay auction win to show off - and yes, for the third day in a row, the auction was a bunch of 2025 Topps Series 1 1990 Topps 35th Anniversary Silver Pack Chrome Mojo cards. The set name might not roll off the tongue but at least the cards are gorgeous.
This particular lot contained 13 different Chrome cards and of those, I needed 11 of them. That's a great success rate, especially when you consider the fact that I'm now 60% done with the 100-card set! Here's what I was able to add to my collection:
Plenty of highlights in that batch of cards including a guy that should be my new favorite non-Reds player, Nacho Alvarez, Jr., based entirely on his name! I'm also partial to the Rhett Lowder rookie and the George Brett card.
I'm probably nearing the end of the time when buying large lots of Chrome cards makes sense. With only 40 cards remaining to acquire, it's getting more and more likely that large lots will contain too many duplicates. That said, this was an experimental way of trying to build the set - using large eBay lots at the beginning and then trying to trade to fill in the set holes at the end of the process. Will it work? Only time will tell I guess!
