So I Guess I Need to Collect this Now...

I've mentioned this on the blog before, but my son has officially gone cuckoo for Pokemon cards.  Of course, Pokemon isn't a single-player game, which means my son needs me to play against him.  And that means that I also need Pokemon cards.  The last thing I wanted was the temptation of another type of card to collect, but hey, the things we do for our children, am I right?!

While I definitely don't own nearly as many cards as my son, I do have a couple of decks that I put together based on some "preconstructed" decks that I purchased.  One of those decks was a blue (water) deck that is centered around building up a couple of lines of Pokemon evolutions.  One of those lines is the Quaxly / Quaxwell / Quaquaval line.

My son has all sorts of tricked-out decks with rare Pokemon critters, so I figured I should drop an entire $1.50 (including shipping) on eBay to get a rarer pocket monster of my own.

That's a Quaquaval EX, ostensibly a better card than the usual Quaquaval cards that came in the original preconstructed deck.  I fully admit that I don't actually know what makes for great cards, but at least I can have fun playing with my son, which is all that I care about.

That all said, I guess I am officially throwing my hat into the ring of Pokemon collecting, especially cards that my son can use!   If anyone has some unloved/unwanted Pokemon cards lying around, let me know.  Maybe we can work out a trade involving baseball cards for Pokemom cards!

Until then, watch out for the duck.  Quack quack.

PS:  This is NOT an April Fool's post (unfortunate timing for this particular post, I fully admit that).

  1. The blogosphere is pretty generous. I had at least three care packages over the past year with some Pokemon cards in them. Unfortunately... all of them have been passed along to my students and my co-worker's son. But hopefully a few of those people see this post and send some your way too.

    1. Yeah, I figure there might be some people out there looking for baseball cards with Pokemon to spare! I've pretty much run the baseball trading well dry over on TCDB!

  2. My youngest son has a passing interest in Pokemon cards. Not enough to play or continually buy packs, which is good, since right now that market in insane.
