Happy Friday, everyone! Now that May is over, it's the perfect Friday to take a look back at my in-person board game plays for last month. As usual, I'll start with the visual:
Overall, I managed to complete a total of 56 plays spread across 23 different board game titles. From that group, I got to try four new games, including:
Wonderland's War: I bought in on the Kickstarter back when it launched, and the game has been languishing unplayed on my shelf ever since. I must say, the wait was worthwhile here. Wonderland's War is great! It's basically a bag builder with some drafting and area control elements.
Pantheum: Demigods of Olympus: Another Kickstarter game, though this one only recently delivered so I was quite speedy in getting this one learned and played. This game was another winner in my book.
Lost Cities: I got this game in a recent board game trade. It's a relatively simple push-your-luck card game, but it's got some fun decisions in a super quick playtime.
Century: A New World: I got this game on sale for a cheap price. It's hard for me to turn down a "good deal" on a board game, even if it's for a game that I know very little about. As it turned out, Century: A New World is a fairly fun (albeit quite standard) worker placement style game with some set collection/recipe fulfillment aspects. I'll need to play this one a few more times before I decide if it is worthy of a permanent spot on my board game shelves.
Overall, the month of May in board gaming was quite varied! It was great to get some of my unplayed Kickstarter games to the table. I also returned to some older favorites, including 7 Wonders Duel and Dungeons, Dice, and Danger. My son loves Galaxy Trucker, Turbo Drift, and String Railway, all of which I enjoy as well, to varying degrees. Finally, I played quite a few solo games, including Sprawlopolis and its cousin, Naturopolis.
Perhaps most amazingly, I'm still alive on my ridiculous goal of playing at least one in-person board game every single day of the year! Sure, many of those plays have been solo plays, but still the streak remained unbroken through May!
