I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend. Despite the holiday, my mailman was busy all week delivering me TCDB trades! Let's see what showed up in the past seven days.
We'll begin with a trade with user GalapagosPhanatic:
This trade was a total mistake on my part. I was sending out trade proposals right before bed (i.e., I was tired), and I mistakenly requested the regular All-Star inserts instead of the Silver Pack Chrome versions. I'm sure GalapagosPhanatic was happy about my trade proposal, as it was quite lopsided in his favor, considering the majority of the cards were not of the shiny variety! Oh well, I guess I learned not to send out trade proposals late at night moving forward.
On the bright side, the Griffey is an accidental keeper, plus I did land two needed Chrome Silver Pack cards, so it wasn't an entire bust of a trade!
Next up, from user hoosier83:
That might look like your average run-of-the-mill Allen & Ginter base card, but you'd be wrong! It's actually one of the unannounced short prints that Topps did for the 2021 set. For some reason, Topps thought it would be a fun idea to secretly short-print three players (#105 Akil Baddoo, #184 Yermin Mercedes, and #252 Jarred Kelenic). Even worse (for set collectors), there are regular base cards for each of the three numbers. This is the first of the three short prints that I was able to pick up for my own collection, though if I'm being honest, it doesn't bother me much to not own all three. It almost seems like if I actively chase the cards, then I'm implicitly telling Topps to continue to do stupid crap like that in the future.
Next, from user catchrking comes some more new 2025 shiny cards for me:
I'm such a sucker for the 1990 Topps design, especially with the Chrome Mojo treatment. I think the two sets (regular and All-Star) will look great once they are both finally completed and tucked away in my binder! It's certainly nice to be able to swing a deal for several Chrome cards at once, there's 100 total cards between the two Series 2 sets - so this trade netted me exactly 5% of what I need to track down.
Finally, from user Hershey comes a new-to-me shiny Barry Larkin card:
That's a Purple Prizm parallel from the 2019 Panini Prizm set. The 2019 Panini Prizm set has an absurd number of parallels. I've barely scratched the surface in terms of my collection, as proof, here's the full list of known parallels (with print runs of at least 25 copies). A "yes" means I own the card, while a "no" means I still need it:

Yep, it's insane how many cards there are to track down from a single set. Perhaps even crazier, there are still 107 different Barry Larkin cards that I need to track down from the year 2019! Being a player collector is a tough business.
That does it for the past week on TCDB. Overall, I have no complaints (especially with the holiday slowing down the mail). Here's to many more trades before the summer comes to an end (though my grandfather would always say that July 4th marked the end of summer and the older I get, the more I think he might have been correct)!
