August marked the third consecutive month that I bought into ButtonShy's Board Game of the Month Club. The basic idea is that for a set price, you get a Wallet Game (plus typically two expansions) mailed to you each month. For most of the summer, the mailings were delayed, but it appears the company is back on track now, with the previous month's wallets going out within the next month.
For the month of August, members of the club were treated to a game called Adventurous, designed by Dustin Dobson and Milan Zivkovic.

I love the little informational card that comes in each month's package. |
This is a 1-4 player cooperative game that I am excited to try soon! The game consists of you sailing your ship around the sea while trying to explore and discover all that there is to offer.
The package also came with the 6-card Forgotten Worlds expansion, which adds a new ship card plus five more map cards.
I haven't (yet) had a chance to try the game myself, but I will say that a quick glance through the cards makes me excited to give this one a spin.
Cooperative games are often some of my favorites, especially to play with my son. This particular game seems like it might be a great choice to play with him; lots of puzzle-solving and spatial skills get put to the test (at least, that's what a cursory glance at the rules suggests to me). I'll certainly have more to say about this particular game once I get it played.
The other item in this month's package was another expansion for Mysticana.
I still haven't played Mysticana or any of its expansions, but I know I'll need to soon since I've been accumulating a bunch of content thanks to the Board Game of the Month Club mailings.
At the rate I'm going, it won't take long before I'll have a rather voluminous collection of ButtonShy wallet games! Luckily, most of the ButtonShy games that I've tried have been fun, so here's hoping that trend continues with the Board Game of the Month options.
