TCDB Monday (and the Bots Love my Blog!)

Well, we've made it to another Monday.  What's new this week?  For one, the bots are still apparently scouring my blog on a daily basis.  I mean, look at these recent visitor count numbers:

Those are the seven most recent posts on my blog, and you can see that Blogger is now claiming that I'm averaging over 3600 visits per post.  That's utter nonsense, especially for such a niche blog as mine.  What's interesting about that is that Google does seem to be deleting a lot of those bot visits from older posts of mine.  Scrolling back a few weeks, I see that my visit numbers are quite normal for what my blog averages (between 100 and 600 visits per post, depending on the blog post topic).

There isn't any real punchline or even point to the above tangent, other than the fact that I find stuff like that interesting and figured I'd share.  Of course, this is Monday, which means it is a TCDB recap day, so let's get to it.

Today's recap is a short one; I only received a single PWE trade from TCDB users, and that one trade netted me a single card:

Thanks to user Mihome316, I am now one card closer to completing the Series 2 Topps Silver Pack Chrome Mojo set.  I'm nearly done with the full 150-card run (Series 1 and 2 combined).  At the moment, I am only missing 15 cards, so not too shabby!  For the record, here's what I'm still hunting for:

1990 Topps Baseball 35th Anniversary Chrome (Series 1):
T90C- 21, 44, 50
1990 Topps Baseball 35th Anniversary Chrome (Series 2):
T90C- 108, 112, 128, 134, 135, 139, 140, 141, 143, 148, 149, 150

That will do it for this week's mailbag.  I do hope to do more trading on TCDB, but finding trade partners is tougher with every passing week since I haven't done much in the way of buying new cards to add to my trade bait!

Comments

  1. The sheer inefficiency of the bot traffic is quite interesting to watch.

  2. I haven't blogged on Sport Card Collectors in months and it's already over 100,000 views this month because of this. My Cards Over Coffee two posts I have done recently were crazy numbers. Like thousands and I usually only get 50 views per post on there.

  3. It's not like views were the end all, be all to blogging... but it was interesting to take a peek and see which posts were more popular than others. Hopefully Google/Blogger is able to figure out a way to weed out the bots at some point.

  4. It's been funny to see really. According to Blogger, 9 of my top 10 posts all-time by views have been from posts I've made in the past month. Two post I've made this month have more "views" then entire pages I created 4 or 5 years ago. Those AI bots truly want to know everything!
