A TCDB-less Monday, but at Least I have Something Else Cool to Show!

Unfortunately, I don't have any TCDB mail to show off from last week.  I did agree to (and send out) a couple of trades, but neither of the return envelopes landed in my mailbox in time for today's post.  However, all is not lost!  I might not have gotten mail from trading, but I did get a single card from a recent eBay purchase!

That's a 2004 Leaf card, part of the Exhibits insert set.  The Leaf Exhibits set is a hulking, rather confusing, beast of a set.  In fact, here's the write-up about the set from over on Baseballcardpedia:

One of the more confusing and convoluted inserts ever made, 2004 Leaf Exhibits is a 50-card set with 46 different variations of each card. Each variation has the same player photo, but each has some minor differences. Done in the style of the cards produced by The Exhibit Supply Company from 1921-1966, each different variation is serial-numbered from as few as 21 to as many as 66 copies.

The card you see at the top of today's post is the "2004 Leaf - Exhibits 1962-63 Stat Back Red Name Right" card, serially numbered 47/63 on the backside of the card.

By my count, there are 85 different versions of Barry Larkin in the 2004 Leaf Exhibits set (remember, I ignore anything with a stated print run of under 25 copies).  With the above card now in hand, I own exactly one card from the set!  I think this set will be even tougher to complete than the 1998 Topps Tek Larkin run (and, unfortunately, way more boring).
