Happy Monday, everyone. Today, I've got a question for you courtesy of a recent TCDB trade with user pinfit:
Does the following card count as a Barry Larkin card?
TCDB now seems to think that "yes, it counts" as a Barry Larkin card. I, on the other hand, am less certain. Yes, Barry is shown on the card front, but his name doesn't appear anywhere on the card itself.
So what do you think? Should I make space in my Barry Larkin binder for the Stadium Club "Super Team" card?
I managed to complete three trades on TCDB last week; you already saw the first up above. The next trade was for a card that will for sure slot into my set binder - and it comes courtesy of user MMehler30:
That's yet another 2025 Topps Silver Pack Chrome card. This was a great trade for me because it was one of the rare "I send a bunch of commons and get back a card I need for a set build" type trade. I am more than happy to send out a ton of commons for the cards I need! Being able to make more storage space is always appreciated. It's amazing how quickly cards can pile up if you don't actively make an effort to send them on to happier homes!
My remaining want list for the 2025 Topps set looks like this:
2025 Topps:
1990 Topps Baseball 35th Anniversary Chrome (Series 1):
1990 Topps Baseball 35th Anniversary Chrome (Series 1):
T90C- 21, 44, 50
1990 Topps Baseball 35th Anniversary Chrome (Series 2):
T90C- 108, 139, 140, 143, 150
1990 Topps Baseball Chrome All-Stars (Series 2):
90ASC- 2, 6, 8, 11, 12, 17, 22, 26, 27, 28, 34, 39, 41
As always, any help is appreciated!
Finally, we return to my Barry Larkin binder with a card that definitely belongs:
That's a 1992 Sports Collectors Digest Sports Card Price Guide Monthly card of Barry Larkin. The back of the card gives some prices of Barry's early cards, including $7 for his 1987 Fleer rookie card. I previously owned this card as part of a full uncut sheet, but as a (slightly crazy) player collector, I also wanted to acquire the cut version of his card, which I now own!
That does it for the past week of trades, a nice haul if I do say so myself!

Nice Rocker card. I may need to do some tons of commons for a card I need to help finish my 2019 Topps Heritage set build. I'm down to needing 19 SP's to finish it. Yes, it's a nice haul.
ReplyDeleteI vote yes on the Larkin since you can see most of him.
ReplyDeleteYes, include the Team card in your Larkin binder.
ReplyDeleteAre you going for the (100) 1990 Topps Baseball 35th Anniversary Chrome cards in the Topps Update set?
For me, a team card with a full team photo does not count for an individual player's binder, but something like this where there are only a few players on the card does. A lot of the recent Mets team cards made my Pete Alonso binder and he's less prominent on many than Larkin is here.
ReplyDeleteI would categorize that as a team card, not any specific player.
