My first couple of boxes of 2025 Topps Allen & Ginter were very strong boxes filled with nice cards. Box 3 was a bit of a letdown. Will we rebound in style with box #4? Let's find out.
Box 4:
Minis:
As usual, we pulled five assorted mini inserts. Topps has made acquiring the various mini insert sets quite challenging over the past few years. I do hope to collect all of the mini sets, but I know it won't be something that I'll be able to complete in a matter of weeks (I'll be lucky if I am able to complete the sets by this time next year)! Box #4 didn't offer a great variety of mini sets. Even worse, two of the five minis were duplicates within this box. Ugh, terrible by Topps.
Full-Sized:
I found a single Chrome Refractor of Ty Cobb, so I had to show that off.
The Chrome Refractors are gorgeous with the A&G styling. If I weren't still working on the 2024 edition, I'd probably go after these. Alas, I've learned not to try and collect too many sets at once, so this will be trade bait and/or eBay fodder.
Hits:
First up, a full-sized Rafael Devers, with a slight nick at the bottom of the card.
It's always a bit disappointing to get a card that is damaged straight from the pack. I've already said that I don't have a lot of interest in the full-sized relics, so this one will probably be leaving my collection sooner rather than later.
In better news, I did manage to find my fourth autograph in as many boxes!
That's a Darren Baker (Dusty Baker's kid) framed rookie autograph.
And that's it for Box #4. It wasn't the strongest of boxes, that's for sure. I'm still enjoying the base set and the various inserts, so even though I didn't pull any amazing hits, I'm still making solid progress on my set builds! The biggest disappointment has to be getting two duplicate minis within the box, followed by a close second of the slightly damaged relic. Ugh, not great Topps.
