With each new set that Topps releases, one of the first things I tend to do is look over the checklist to see if Barry Larkin is included. For the 2025 Allen & Ginter set, Larkin was a short-printed base card (which means he also has a ton of parallels)! In addition, Barry was included in several "hits" inserts, including the full-sized relic set.
Now, I generally don't care for the Allen & Ginter full-sized relics since I vastly prefer the framed relics, but when Barry Larkin is involved, I'll make an exception. That's exactly what I did with a recent eBay purchase to secure this beauty:
The overall look of this card isn't too bad, though I do still prefer the framed A&G cards. I do like the bright red of Larkin's jersey and how it pops with this design. Here's what the back of the card looks like:
As usual, the legal verbiage is rather vague. On this card, it says that the relic is "memorabilia from Barry Larkin." What does that mean, exactly? Something that Barry collected? Something that Barry actually used in a game? I'm guessing this might be a piece of wood from some remodeling that Barry did in his house.
No matter how dubious the wood chip may be in relation to an actual MLB game, I'm still enough of a player collector sucker to want this for my collection!
