I hope everyone is enjoying the group break so far. I've decided that hosting a group break is a lot more fun when I'm not having to rush off to work. It's hard to beat the life of a professor sometimes...until you want to buy something that is. Enough grumbling though, let's rip some more packs!
Box 1 - Pack 9:
1. Babe Ruth - Yankees
23. Jordan Zimmerman - Nationals
89. Barry Zito - Giants
130. Clayton Kershaw - Dodgers
148. Dustin Pedroia - Red Sox
170. Joe Mauer - Twins
178. Giancarlo Stanton - Marlins
226. Larry Bowa - Phillies
Another short print, this time for the Phillies. I'm a big fan of the 1990 design cards - perhaps because I just recently completed the original '90 Topps set!
Box 1 - Pack 10:
12. Jarrod Parker - Athletics
68. Matt Harrison - Rangers
100. Bryce Harper - Nationals
104. Gio Gonzalez - Nationals
MT-MT. Tall Boys: Mike Trout - Angels
60R-BM. Relic: Brandon Morrow - Blue Jays
Woah! A relic?! I didn't know there were relics in the set - they aren't mentioned on the front of the hobby box! Looking at the pack wrapper, the 1960 Topps relics are seeded 1:216 packs which means this is a great "hit" of sorts for the Blue Jays!
At this point in the break, every single team (except the Astros) has at least one base card. Eight different teams have at least one insert card already as well, not bad considering we've only opened up 10 packs. The current base card leader is the Rangers with six. The next closest teams are the NL Central rivals Reds and Cardinals with four each. Two teams have landed a card that is seeded 1 per box or rarer thus far (Braves and Blue Jays).
