Kellogg's Prize Packs from Johnny's Trading Spot

I'm nearly done posting about packages that I received back in 2020 - by my count, after this current post I only have two more envelopes to show off (a PWE and a bubble mailer).  Enough of the future though, let's focus on the present...er, the past.

Today's mail was a prize pack from Johnny's Trading Spot - I think this was from the Bingo game that he held last year.  I managed to win a little something - and my prize ended up being two nice sized stacks of Kellogg's cards. 

I never really collected Kellogg's cards, especially those produced before I was born (1982).  The cards you see above are a sampling of the 1982 Kellogg's set - obviously the Foster is my favorite of that bunch!  I dig the bright blue design with the stars along the sides, the cards look like they celebrate "superstars" even if maybe the checklist isn't exactly all amazing players.

John also sent along a bunch of 1983 Kellogg's - this is a design that I don't remember seeing before now! 

In fact, I kind of always assumed all the Kellogg's cards were at least the same dimensions but even that has been proven to be untrue based on this prize package spanning two years' worth of set designs.  I have to admit, I kind of like how Kellogg's completely reinvented the look of their cards between 1982 and 1983 - while I think I prefer the overall design of the '82 set, I'd be lying if I didn't say that '83 set was a classy looking cereal card!  I think my favorite part of the '83 set is the way the border sort of cuts into the background of each image and yet you can still make out more of the overall photo than you could with the 1982 set.
