Barry Larkin Collection 907: 1993 Fleer Fruit of the Loom - #35

Barry Larkin
Year:  1993
Brand:  Fleer Fruit of the Loom
Card number:  35

The 1993 Fleer Fruit of the Loom is further proof that people are correct when they say that "baseball cards used to be found everywhere back in my day!"  This particular card was part of a 66 (!) card set that Fleer produced for Fruit of the Loom.  Specially marked packages of men's and boy's underwear contained a six-card pack of baseball cards.

The 1993 Fleer Fruit of the Loom cards look basically identical to the regular 1993 Fleer set except for the Fruit of the Loom logo on the front (and a different card number on the back).  I love oddball cards like this, though I do wish there was a different photo or something to differentiate the set a bit more from Fleer's flagship offering.  Even so, it's a fun addition to my Barry Larkin Collection - after all, how often can you say your underwear came with baseball cards?!

  1. Is so weird, 1993 Fleer Atlantics use different photos (and even have updated teams) but not the more-nationally-distributed Fruit of the Loom version.

  2. I knew of the set, but didn't realize that it was so large.
