Before I show off the last of my case of 2022 Allen & Ginter, I'd like to remind everyone that voting is NOW OPEN for this year's End-of-Year Blog Awards (go here to cast your ballot). I'd love to get a solid turnout of votes - so make your voice heard!
--------------------------------------
We start off with our box topper - a Kirby Puckett N43 card.
My second N43 of the case - nice way to end the box toppers.
Moving on the packs, I found only five mini inserts this time around.
I'm still going to be in need of a bunch of mini inserts so if you have any for trade, let me know!
I did find one other special mini - my second Brooklyn back mini of the case.
A McCovey numbered to 25 is a pretty good pull I'd say!
Finally, the hits beginning as usual with the two common relics:
I definitely enjoy the splash of bright blue on the Mewis relic, so much better than the usual whites, blacks, and grays (such as that on the Kyle Tucker relic right next door).
And last but not least, a framed relic to close things out.
Overall, I'd say I had a decent (actually probably above average) case of Ginter. I might take the time to go through all of the stated odds and see how my case shook out overall. I definitely beat the odds in a number of spots but I think I'll find that I also fell short in a number of spots (especially with the box toppers)! It could be interesting - if not to everyone certainly to those math nerds (like me) who happen to read baseball card blogs.
Thanks for reading along with me as I busted through all those boxes of Ginter. It's been a fun ride, hopefully I'll get to do it again next year (if Fanatics doesn't kill of Ginter or somehow change it so drastically that I'm no longer interested in the set).

I also tried mangosteen for the first time this summer.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I've even seen a mangosteen before!
DeleteOh. I have my fingers crossed that with Fanatics being a multi-sport behemoth maybe Ginter will get more interesting next year.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point, though I do think this year's Ginter offering is stronger than the past few years. Design, content, minis, you name it - I think I prefer this year in almost every catagory.
DeleteGot a couple blasters and finally pulled one of the What A Steals
ReplyDeleteThe minis are tough to find - and putting together the full sets has been mighty challenging thus far! On that note, if anyone has some minis for trade let me know!
DeleteEntertaining series of posts, especially since I may never open a case.
ReplyDeleteThanks! The case rip was certainly fun and it had been a long, long time since I bought a box of cards for myself (this was the first 2022 product that I bought for myself, in fact).
DeleteDid you get a complete set?
ReplyDeleteI did get a complete set - two of them in fact plus a third base set that was nearly complete (missing only a couple of base cards). I did not get three full sets of short prints, however.
DeleteGlad to hear that the case provided two full base sets. By the way... that Puckett cabinet card is pretty cool.
DeleteThanks for sharing. Did you decide what to do with the double rip card??
ReplyDeleteYeah, I ended up putting it up on eBay in the hopes of recouping a decent chunk of the cost of the case. Here's the link for anyone interested (I've got a bunch of stuff from this case of Ginter listed currently): https://www.ebay.com/sch/fan_of_reds/m.html?item=144835469481&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m3561.l2562
DeleteI'm afraid I didn't have much to say about this years A&G, but it was still neat to see the contents of an entire case. Here's hoping that your rip cards will do well on eBay for you.
